Younger builders will also be interested in getting hold of the recently announced Baby Dinosaur Rescue Center 76963, which we’ll also take a look at below. But for now, let’s cast our Pterodactyl’s gaze over the primary model…

LEGO Jurassic World Dinosaur Fossils: T. rex Skull – Features

Dinosaur Fossils: T. rex Skull 76964 is the perfect gift for budding palaeontologists and marks the first Jurassic World set intended for display purposes. The inclusion of ‘Dinosaur Fossils’ in the set name may hint at future crania models to come from other dinosaurs, which could, in time, result in a unique collection forming.

The T. rex is one of the most iconic monsters from the Jurassic period, though some scientists now theorise that it may not have been the predator we know from the Steven Spielberg film series but more of a cautious scavenger. The LEGO model skull includes an opening jaw, an info plaque, a hidden piece of amber at the rear of the model, and a fossiled footprint of the creature’s three-toed claw.

The model is marketed towards kids aged 9 and over, though we suspect the new set will also prove popular with nostalgic grown-ups who grew up with the original film.

Baby Dinosaur Rescue Center

Another Jurassic World set was also revealed at the same time as the T. rex – Baby Dinosaur Rescue Center 76963.

This cute collection includes a few human minifigures and plenty of baby dinosaurs, including an Ankylosaurus, Triceratops and Velociraptor. There’s also an adult flying Pteranodon to contend with. The set included special LEGO Starter Bricks to give young buildings a more straightforward construction process.

The model also comes with a brick-built, 4-wheel-drive off-road vehicle, a feeding area with a shed wall, a research area with solar panels, a cave wall, and a computer workstation.

The set will be released on 1 January 2024, priced at £34.99.
