LEGO Food Trucks for Your Brick City

KEEP YOUR MINIFIGURE POPULACE WELL-FED WITH THESE MOBILE FAST-FOOD EATERIES

LEGO Food Trucks for Your Brick City

The recent Retro Food Truck 40681 gift-with-purchase has made mobile food eateries one of the flavours of the month. And in celebration of this fun vehicle aimed at brick LEGO cities, we’re looking at some other great food truck options to add some colour to your brick scenes.

Every LEGO city needs to feel alive, something which is achieved through more than just detailed modular buildings and minifigures – you need to fill those streets with vehicles, day-to-day activities and vibrancy. Fast food stalls and vans are some of the easiest ways to do this, making your metropolis feel like a busy city on the go, filled with characters enjoying a casual stroll and busy commuters squeezing in some quick lunch.

Retro Food Truck – 40681

This GWP was available earlier this month (January 2024), though don’t worry if you missed out – it will also be returning to LEGO online from 1-7th April 2024.

This truck makes a neat addition to any street scene, with a nostalgic, retro truck selling hot dogs and drinks. The mid-century fast-food truck’s elegant sky blue and white design is complemented by the classic red and white striped awnings, making it a highly displayable LEGO set for any scenario. The food seller is also visible inside the truck, working diligently in the meal prep section using a stove and a soda machine.

Burger Truck – 60404

This burger-meal-on-wheels vendor is still available to purchase for an affordable price – snap it up before the model retires.

Part of the official LEGO City theme, this fun food van toy is highly displayable, with a badass flaming black colour scheme and an iconic burger-shaped stall on the back. The set also includes a flame-grilled burger sign to complete the look. The van comes with a food vendor minifigure, a hungry customer, and a detailed food prep area fully stocked with condiments.

Pizza Van – 60150

If we were to choose one food item to grab on the go, it would be a cheesy slice of pizza. This now-retired pizza truck can still be picked up on resale sites for a reasonable price and makes a fine addition to most city scenes, enhanced by the funky red delivery bike and eating table with parasol umbrella included with the set. The sides of the bright yellow van also open to reveal kitchen space in the back.

Extra accessories are always handy for a large city build, as they can be used for different areas – why not place the pizza van curbside and the delivery bike beside another building, with a minifigure making deliveries?

Pigsy’s Food Truck – 80009

This option from the Chinese-mythology-inspired Monkie Kid is a bit of a wild choice for mixing with standard LEGO themes, but who can argue it wouldn’t make a great talking point as part of a big city setting?

Once you get past the Monkey King elements, such as the wacky weapons and pig/bull characters, this is a solid, eye-catching food truck with a detailed kitchen and vibrant food pieces. The Bull Clones on motorbikes can also speed through your city – just make sure you have a LEGO police car to pursue them.

Penguin Slushy Van – 60384

There are strong summer vibes with this ice slush drink van, which is still available to purchase as part of the LEGO City theme.

The penguin-styled van also includes a penguin costume vendor (who seems very happy about this). Thirsty customers can be served a drink through the sliding serving hatch from a choice of four alternate-coloured slushy machines, and the giant slushy cup on the roof is an epic detail. As vendor van playsets go, this one’s a winner.

Hot Dog Food Truck – 42633

Looking beyond the standard minifigure themes, this pretend-play food option from LEGO Friends offers a quirky hotdog-shaped van with a large food prep area and several cute tables for characters to dine at.

The question remains whether you would want to mix the ‘Friends doll’ figures with standard LEGO Minifigures, but who is to say the LEGO Friends crew can’t enjoy a trip to the big city?
