What next for LEGO Stranger Things?
Is the wait nearly over...!
Anticipation is building for the upcoming release of Season 4 Volume 2 of Netflix’s Stranger Things. Since the show’s inception in July 2016, Stranger Things has thrilled audiences with its nostalgic 1980s pop culture references, gritty horror and dark, atmospheric cinematography that evokes classic 1980s film and television such as E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, Stand by Me and The Goonies. The show’s soundtrack has also popularised the Synthwave genre, as well as introducing young viewers to artists such as Kate Bush, REO Speedwagon and Talking Heads.
When Does the Final Season of Stranger Things Come Out?
Stranger Things Season 4 Volume 2 premieres on Netflix this Friday, July 1st. Following Volume 1’s shock ending – which revealed the true identity of this season’s terrifying villain, Vecna – fans are counting down to the show’s final episodes, to see what fate awaits the heroes and heroines of the fictional 1980s midwestern town of Hawkins.
Can We Expect Any More LEGO Stranger Things Releases?
To date, the only official LEGO set release (other than a keyring, two BrickHeadz figures and a very exclusive Castle Byers set) has been the highly popular 75810 The Upside Down, which won the 2020 Toy of the Year award. The product has now been retired from sale, however collectors who own the set are still able to buy the iDisplayit high-quality acrylic protective display case for it, as pictured above.
To Date, There Has Been (Two Way) Radio Silence on Any New LEGO Releases.
Speculation continues to mount regarding the possibility of future sets, especially considering the show’s continued success. Back in May 2021, LEGO released a cryptic social post alongside the official Netflix teaser for season 4, stating: “something strange is happening”. Coupled with the fact that LEGO has chosen to maintain their license agreement with Netflix, it seems the only thing less likely than future LEGO releases would be a gate to the Upside Down appearing in our living rooms.
What LEGO Stranger Things Sets Could We Expect?
With this in mind, it can be fun to speculate on what scenes or set pieces we could expect in future. Here are a few of our favourites from the show that we would like to see recreated in LEGO form:
1. Hawkins National Laboratory
A secretive lab full of scientists surrounded by a barbed wire fence and guarded by the military. It is also where the test subject Eleven first developed her powers in season 1. There would be plenty of opportunity to explore the interior of the lab and create LEGO figurines of Dr. Brenner and the mysteriously numbered test subjects.2. Starcourt Mall
A shopping mall luxuriating in 1980s glitz and glamour. Amenities include RadioShack, Scoops Ahoy and Starcourt Cinemas. It is also the location of the dramatic battle against the Spider Monster in season 3, which would look very epic in LEGO form.
3. Hawkins Middle School
A classic American middle school – football team: the Cubs. Also the location of the season 1 finale where Dr. Brenner and his agents searched for Eleven, only to encounter the Monster after it emerges from a portal in the wall.
4. Hawkins Community Pool
An iconic outdoor swimming pool evoking nostalgic memories of childhood summer days spent playing with friends. Also where Max’s brother Billy regularly flaunted his lifeguard abs to the Hawkins moms. With so many Hawkins swimmer figures to choose from, this could be a really fun set piece to assemble and display.
